Roots are what bind us to the land and our ancestors. They take us beyond ourselves. To know ourselves well we have to know how far our umbilical cord reaches. A place lost in time that is not real until something happens that suddenly, as with Proust’s “madeleine“, makes you open your eyes and gives you a pinch in your heart, gives you goose bumps, tears come to your eyes with emotion and tells you “All this beauty belongs to you, it’s yours”. And you recognize yourself. You know yourself better. And you love yourself more.
